2. What information we collect
Information you provide directly
At initial newsletter registration, we currently ask only for your email address.
In the future, we may invite subscribers to provide optional information so that we can tailor content and recommendations. If we introduce this, we will explain what information is requested, why we are asking for it and whether providing it is optional before you submit it.
We may also collect information you choose to provide when you contact us, respond to a survey or poll, enter a promotion, or otherwise communicate with Slymbee.
Technical and usage information
When you use our website or interact with our emails, we and service providers acting on our behalf may collect information such as:
- IP address and approximate location derived from it;
- device type, operating system and browser;
- pages, articles and links viewed or clicked;
- referring website or source;
- date, time and duration of interactions;
- email delivery and engagement information, such as whether an email was delivered and links clicked, where available and permitted; and
- cookie, device and similar online identifiers.
Affiliate and referral information
Some Slymbee content contains affiliate or referral links. When you click one, we and/or the relevant affiliate network, retailer or service provider may use identifiers or similar technologies to attribute the visit or a later conversion to Slymbee.
We may receive limited information such as the link or campaign clicked, click date and time, an affiliate or referral identifier, whether a purchase or other qualifying action occurred, and commission or transaction value. We do not normally receive your payment-card details from the retailer or service provider.
4. How we use information
We may use personal information to:
- send the Slymbee newsletter and other communications you have requested;
- deliver articles, videos, offers, product and service recommendations and other editorial content;
- operate, maintain, secure and improve our website and email programme;
- understand aggregate audience engagement and content performance;
- measure affiliate referrals, conversions and commissions;
- respond to enquiries and provide support;
- manage consent, preferences, unsubscribes and suppression records;
- prevent fraud, misuse and security incidents; and
- comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
6. Personalisation
We may in future offer optional ways for subscribers to tell us more about the topics they want to receive. We may also use permitted engagement information to understand which types of Slymbee content are useful to our audience.
We will not require you to provide optional profile information simply to remain subscribed to the general Slymbee newsletter. If we materially change how we personalise content, particularly where health-related or other sensitive information is involved, we will update our notices and obtain any consent required by law.
7. Our legal bases under UK data protection law
Where UK data protection law applies, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Consent – for activities such as email marketing and non-essential storage/access technologies where consent is required.
- Legitimate interests – for appropriate business purposes such as operating and improving Slymbee, understanding audience performance, securing our services and administering affiliate relationships, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
- Contract – where processing is necessary to provide a service you have specifically requested under a contract.
- Legal obligation – where we must process information to comply with applicable law.
Where special-category personal data is processed, we will also identify an appropriate additional condition under applicable law.
8. Affiliate links and third-party websites
Slymbee may link to retailers, service providers, affiliate partners, social platforms and other third-party websites. When you follow a link and interact with a third party, that organisation may collect and use your information under its own privacy policy and terms.
Slymbee does not control the privacy practices of independent third parties. We recommend reviewing the relevant privacy information before providing personal or sensitive information to them.
10. International transfers
Slymbee is established in the United Kingdom and our audience, service providers and business partners may be located in the United States and other countries. As a result, personal information may be processed outside the country in which you live.
Where UK law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we use an applicable mechanism such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or another lawful safeguard. You may contact us for further information about relevant safeguards.
12. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to meet legal, accounting, security and dispute-resolution requirements.
Our typical approach is:
- Newsletter subscriber data – while you remain subscribed, subject to periodic review.
- Unsubscribe/suppression records – retained as necessary to ensure we continue to honour your opt-out.
- Consent and preference records – retained for as long as reasonably necessary to demonstrate and administer your choices.
- Enquiries and support communications – typically up to 24 months, unless a longer period is needed.
- Website, email, analytics and affiliate-attribution data – retained according to the purpose, configuration and provider involved, and reviewed for necessity.
- Legal and financial records – retained for the period required by applicable law, which may be up to six years or longer in particular circumstances.
We may retain aggregated or anonymised information that no longer identifies an individual.
13. Data security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information, including access controls, secure systems, appropriate contractual protections and security monitoring. No internet or information-storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
14. Your privacy rights
United Kingdom
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights to access personal data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion, restrict processing, object to processing, withdraw consent, receive certain data in portable form and complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
You can exercise applicable rights by contacting hello@slymbee.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
United States and other locations
Depending on where you live and whether a particular privacy law applies to Slymbee, you may have additional rights concerning your personal information, such as rights to know or access information, correct it, delete it, obtain a copy, or opt out of certain forms of sale, sharing or targeted advertising.
If a law gives you such a right and it applies to Slymbee, you may contact hello@slymbee.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
If our legal obligations change as Slymbee grows or expands, we may add jurisdiction-specific notices or privacy-choice mechanisms.
15. Children
Slymbee is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through newsletter registration. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child in circumstances where we should not have done so, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
16. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our services, technology, partners, legal requirements or business model. We will post the latest version on our website and update the “Last updated” date. Where required, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
